MAGEN Chicago Shomrim’s Community Safety Observer (CSO) program serves as an important component of our community safety infrastructure, providing timely support when situations arise. CSOs are responsible for observing conditions, documenting information, and relaying relevant details as appropriate.

In the event of any emergency, 911 must always be called first to ensure immediate response from professional emergency services. After 911 has been contacted, our 24/7 Emergency Hotline at 1-844-MAGEN-CHI should then be called. This allows MAGEN Chicago Shomrim CSOs to be notified and, when appropriate, will respond to assist.

When activated, trained CSOs will respond to the area to provide situational awareness and observation only. CSOs do not engage in enforcement actions and will not intervene in active incidents beyond observation and reporting.

The 24/7 hotline is also available for non-emergency concerns and general assistance. When in doubt, callers are always instructed to contact 911 first, followed by our hotline.
