Volunteer Vetting

MAGEN Chicago's third-party independent volunteer screening service is a comprehensive and rigorous process designed to ensure the highest standards of safety and professionalism within their volunteer ranks. This thorough screening approach serves two critical purposes: minimizing potential liability risks and attracting the most qualified and dedicated volunteers to serve the community.

The screening process encompasses a wide range of verification measures. It begins with a thorough credentials check, confirming essential qualifications such as licenses and insurance. A full background check is conducted to identify any potential red flags in a volunteer's history. To further protect the organization and its stakeholders, volunteers are required to sign a liability waiver and agree to a strict no-alcohol policy, both before and during their duty hours. The screening also includes an online psychological test to assess the mental fitness and stability of potential volunteers. For those joining the Shul Safety Officer program, an additional layer of scrutiny is applied through a mandatory Department of Transportation drug test. This meticulous vetting process not only helps MAGEN Chicago build a team of exceptional volunteers but also demonstrates their unwavering commitment to maintaining a safe and secure environment for all those they serve.
